Hindustan Zinc shares today dropped around 3 percent after a 4 percent rise in early trade. The decline came even as the Vedanta Group company reported a more than two-fold rise in quarterly profit, helped by higher metal prices, while cutting its annual zinc production cost forecast amid rising output and stronger by-product realisations. The earnings reports of the company were released on Monday (October 19).
The company's consolidated net profit stood at Rs 6,412 crore for the three months ended September 30. It was at Rs 2,649 crore in the year-ago period.
Hindustan Zinc shares rose as much as 3.98 percent to hit a day high of Rs 559.85 per share, on the NSE in the early trade on Wednesday. However, the stock pared its day's gains and was trading in the negative territory at Rs 524.15, down 2.65 percent, at around 2.30 pm.
Hindustan Zinc reported a 142 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth in its consolidated net profit to Rs 6,412 crore for the second quarter of the ongoing financial year 2026-27. It stood at Rs 2,649 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
Revenue from operations zoomed 77 percent YoY to Rs 15,093 crore during the July-September quarter of FY27, from Rs 8,549 crore reported in the year-ago period. The strong growth in the metal major's revenue was driven by higher metal prices, increased metal production, higher by-product realisation, and a stronger dollar.
