Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty rose for fifth straight session on November 4 due to various reasons, including strong FII buying and easing crude prices.
At 9:46 am, the Sensex was up 352.20 points or 0.46% at 77,270.05, and the Nifty was up 106.40 points or 0.45% at 23,917.25. About 2,233 shares advanced, 1,020 shares declined, and 154 shares were unchanged.
On November 3, 2026, FIIs strengthened their buying activity for the third consecutive session, recording net equity purchases of Rs 6,836 crore. In contrast, DIIs extended their selling streak to three consecutive sessions, with net outflows of Rs 3,678 crore, highlighting continued divergence in institutional flows.
"There is a distinct change in the market mood now. This has changed the market construct, too. The principal factor that has changed the market mood is the sudden reversal of the FII stance towards India. The sustained selling by FIIs have been weighing on the market for the last two years. This is changing now. In five out of the last six trading days, FIIs have been buyers in the market. They bought stocks for Rs 18,661 crore.
"Importantly, the buying volume is increasing. Good corporate earnings and the attractive valuations in large-caps is providing the fundamental support to the rally. Weakening of the AI trade also has facilitated the return of the FIIs.
