Shares of eMudhra extended their slide on October 22, plunging more than 15 per cent a day after a researcher flagged a security flaw in eight intermediate certificates issued by the Indian certificate authority.
The Bengaluru-based company’s stock fell 15.39 percent to Rs 365.5 on the NSE at 11:47 am, taking its two-session decline to around 35 per cent. The stock closed 20 percent lower at Rs 432 in the previous trading session on October 21.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said the incident had a limited, short-lived impact on Indian websites and applications, and has set up a special team to investigate.
In a series of posts on X, the ministry said it had taken serious note of the matter and was working with stakeholders to resolve it. eMudhra’s Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) and eSign services, regulated by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) under MeitY, remain unaffected, it said.
“The impact of this incident on Indian websites and applications has been very limited and for a very short interval,” the ministry said.
