Despite some signs of easing bearish momentum, the broader market structure remains weak, and the Nifty 50 is expected to extend its consolidation phase. The 22,600–22,500 zone is likely to act as immediate support, followed by the crucial support zone of 22,300–22,200. On the upside, 22,800 is expected to act as immediate resistance, while the 23,000–23,100 zone remains a key hurdle. Meanwhile, the Bank Nifty is likely to face resistance in the 56,000–56,200 zone. On the downside, immediate support is placed at 55,100, followed by the crucial support zone of 54,700–54,400, according to market experts.
On October 14, the Nifty 50 fell 99 points, or 0.44 percent, to close at 22,623, while the Bank Nifty declined 165 points, or 0.30 percent, to 55,316. The benchmark index Nifty has been consolidating in a narrow range of nearly 630 points over the last 11 trading sessions. This phase of sideways movement following the recent sharp correction has helped narrow the gap between the index and its 20-day EMA, indicating a gradual mean reversion in prices.
Currently, the index continues to trade below its key moving averages, with these averages still trending lower. In addition, momentum indicators and oscillators are reflecting a lack of directional bias, suggesting a range-bound market structure.
