The growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) to uncover cybersecurity vulnerabilities is opening up a significant business opportunity for Indian IT services companies, with Infosys looking to scale its cybersecurity capabilities by combining AI agents with human expertise, Chief Executive Officer Salil Parekh said on October 23.
Speaking at the company’s Q2 FY27 earnings press conference, Parekh said increasingly capable frontier AI models were creating new challenges for enterprises, as different models identify vulnerabilities across applications that require specialised defence mechanisms.
“Cyber is a huge opportunity for Infosys, but the capabilities have to be very strong,” Parekh said in response to a Moneycontrol question on whether the emerging cybersecurity opportunity could be comparable to the Y2K technology transition.
He said Infosys was building capabilities that combine AI agents and human expertise while working with different frontier AI models to identify and address vulnerabilities.
“Because each frontier model is unearthing different things on the application layer, which needs to be addressed in a different way,” Parekh said.
