Apurva Sahijwani, who stepped down as managing director and CEO of Avendus Wealth Management last month, has joined independent wealth management and multi-family office platform Nexedge Capital as co-founder, the company said on October 13.
Sahijwani’s move comes less than a month after Avendus appointed Umang Papneja, the former CEO of Julius Baer India, as executive vice-chairman and CEO of its wealth management business. Papneja succeeded Sahijwani, who had joined Avendus in May 2024.
At Nexedge, Sahijwani will join founder and CEO Anirudha Taparia as the firm looks to expand its wealth management and family office business. The company said it operates across 11 Indian cities, with more than 240 professionals, including 95 senior bankers. It advises over 1,300 ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families, with assets under management of more than $3 billion and assets under advisory exceeding $5 billion.
Sahijwani has nearly three decades of experience in private banking and wealth management. Before joining Avendus, he led Burgundy Private, Axis Bank’s private banking business for affluent and high-net-worth clients. He has also held senior roles at Kotak Securities, Kotak Wealth Management, ICICI Bank, HSBC and Citibank.
His appointment adds an experienced private banking executive to Nexedge’s leadership as independent wealth management firms seek to serve wealthy individuals, entrepreneurs and families with investment and broader financial advisory services.
