When customers order French fries at a quick-service restaurant, they may not know where the potatoes have been sourced or processed. But behind the familiar side dish is a large supply chain involving farmers, food processors, cold storage facilities and restaurant operators.
For Ahmedabad-based HyFun Foods, that supply chain became a business opportunity.
Founded by Haresh Karamchandani in 2015, HyFun manufactures frozen French fries and other potato-based products for the foodservice and retail markets. Its customer network includes global quick-service restaurant (QSR) brands such as Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut, Subway and Taco Bell, according to the company's website.
The business reported revenue of more than Rs 1,500 crore in FY25, according to data available on Tracxn. Its growth marks an important shift for a family enterprise that began trading potatoes and onions in Mehsana, Gujarat, more than six decades ago.
The origins of HyFun Foods go back to 1962, when Asandas Karamchandani started trading potatoes and onions through the family business, Asandas & Sons.
