Stock futures moved higher on Sunday after a losing week on Wall Street as investors braced for a packed week of earnings results, jobs reports and the upcoming midterm elections.
S&P 500 futures traded up 0.3%, while Nasdaq-100 futures gained 0.4%. Futures linked to the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 116 points, or 0.2%.
The moves come after the three major averages suffered a losing week, bogged down by selling pressure in tech as investors continued to scrutinize names related to the artificial intelligence buildout. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average each fell less than 1% on the week, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 2%.
In Asia, Japan's Nikkei 225 fell 0.54% while the Topix declined 0.74%. The Kospi dropped 1.39% at open, while the small-cap Kosdaq slipped 0.81%. Australia's benchmark S&P/ASX 200 was 0.24% lower.
The week got off to a good start after Anthropic publicly filed for an IPO, which boosted AI-linked stocks. However, selling pressure resumed later in the week amid signs that capex spending could be abating after both Alphabet and Microsoft posted lower-than-expected capex forecasts. Amazon also left its full-year capex guidance unchanged.
