A 38-year-old man has shared his journey from studying in an orphanage to building an investment portfolio worth nearly Rs 5 crore and accumulating assets valued at close to Rs 10 crore.
In a post on Reddit's r/FIRE_Ind community, the user, who goes by u/Slow-Perspective9242, explained how disciplined investing, salary growth and a career shift helped him build financial security despite a difficult childhood and a failed property investment.
"I usually prefer staying in the background, but reading journey posts on this sub kept me disciplined over the last decade," he wrote.
The investor began his career in 2012 as a recruiter at a small staffing firm. In 2016, he started investing Rs 2,000 every month in an equity-linked savings scheme (ELSS) fund.
"At the time, I knew very little about asset allocation; I just wanted to save taxes and build a habit," he wrote.
