Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) shares have staged a sharp recovery, gaining around 11% in a week as better-than-expected quarterly results and rising artificial intelligence (AI) revenue eased investor concerns. The stock rebounded over 18% from a 52-week low near ₹1,976 in July 2026 to around ₹2,335 currently, drawing buying interest after its steep decline from previous highs above ₹4,600.
The recovery also reflects a changing market narrative around AI. Investors initially feared that automation would reduce demand for conventional IT services. However, growing enterprise demand for integrating AI into complex business systems has raised expectations that technology service providers could benefit from the next phase of adoption.
The IT stock has also added 5% in 1 month as well as 3 months. However, It has lost 7% in 6 months and 22% in the last 1 year.
TCS shares had fallen around 30% over the preceding year amid concerns about slower technology spending and AI-led disruption. The correction has made valuations more attractive to some investors, contributing to the recent recovery.
The so-called ‘Reverse AI Trade’ reflects a shift in investor focus from AI tools that automate individual tasks towards the complex work required to deploy AI across large organisations. While AI-led coding and automation initially raised concerns about the traditional IT services model, businesses increasingly need specialist support to integrate these technologies into existing banking, healthcare and software platforms.
