In an email interview with Moneycontrol on the eve of India’s largest-ever IPO, Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Akash Ambani talks about the company’s capital-allocation strategy, monetisation priorities, long-term shareholder value creation and AI plans. Excerpts from the interview:
This is the first public issue from the RIL Group after many years. Your thoughts as you get set to begin life as a listed company?
A listing brings with it an even greater responsibility to our shareholders, customers, employees and all other stakeholders. We recognise the significance of this milestone, particularly given Reliance’s long and special relationship with India’s retail investors.
Jio was built with a clear purpose: to make digital connectivity and services accessible to every Indian. Over the past decade, we have demonstrated what can be achieved through bold ambition, technological innovation and disciplined execution. We engineered much of the technology ourselves, from our own network stack, hardware, software to applications.
As a listed company, our responsibility is to build on that foundation, communicate transparently, maintain strong governance standards and pursue sustainable, long-term growth. We see the IPO as the beginning of a new chapter in Jio’s evolution.
