Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty fell significantly from day's high on October 21 due to various reasons, including profit booking.
At 10:20 am, the Sensex was up 239.96 points or 0.32% at 74,092.86, and the Nifty was up 39.45 points or 0.17% at 22,928.40. About 1,013 shares advanced, 2,513 shares declined, and 186 shares were unchanged.
Profit booking emerged at higher levels as Sensex fell 600 points from day's high while Nifty was trading below 22,950-mark.
Brent crude oil futures hovered above $110 per barrel as the US and Iran continued their strikes against each other in the Strait of Hormuz and this is likely to keep market participants on edge. "We're knocking the sh*t out of them," US President Donald Trump said at a campaign rally in Kansas. In the near term, "...with Brent crude prices and US bond yields remaining elevated, the market is likely to remain under pressure", V.K. Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Investments, said in a note.
Nifty is taking strong resistance at 23,100 and needs to cross it decisively for any bullishness to return to the markets, said analysts.
